Good Afternoon, Everyone:
On March 2 it was a great honor to attend the 2024 DeKalb Fire & Rescue Awards Night celebration at the Stone Ridge Event Center to recognize some of the heroic work displayed by the recipients over the past year. It was a wonderful event and I was very proud to be in attendance. As I have said on any number of occasions, while the rest of us run away from danger, these brave men and women run toward danger and keep us all safe. For this we are very appreciative. I want to thank Fire Chief Darnell Fullum, Public Safety Director Jack Lumpkin, and all the fine people in the DeKalb County Fire & Rescue Department for their outstanding service to the citizens of DeKalb County.
On March 9 it was great fun to attend the Easter Egg Dive at the East Central DeKalb Community & Senior Center. The pool at the facility was filled with colorful eggs and participants in different groups between the ages of 5 and 15 were tasked with jumping in the water and retrieving as many eggs as possible. After getting some excellent instruction from the lifeguards, the kids went to work. Seeing the joy on their faces as they splashed around in the water made my week.
Getting this center built with the swimming pool included is one of the highlights of my time in office. Seeing all of the smiles that day made the fight that I waged to get this accomplished totally worth it.
I would like to commend and thank our Recreation Parks & Cultural Affairs Department led by Director Chuck Ellis, and our Human Services Department led by Director Damon Scott for their outstanding administration of that amazing facility.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call my office at 404-371-4749, or visit my website at commissionerbradshaw.com. Follow me on all the major social media platforms for updates between the meetings, too.
As always, I will conclude my remarks by thanking the citizens of District 4 and DeKalb County for affording me this opportunity to serve. It is indeed an honor.
